Hi Stephanie,

I think that from all the stuff I've researched, raising up your butt after intercourse does not increase the chances for pregnancy. It is myth.

You can continue checking your basil temp every morning but don't rely on this alone. Usually when your temp is high, you have already ovulated so you would be too late for intercourse when TTC and relying on just the temp method.

You should be checking your Basil Temp, Cervical Mucas, & Cervical Position. There is a great book out there about charting and understanding your fertility. I'm reading it now and it is extremely helpful. It is called Taking Charge of your Fertility.

Hope I have helped you some....
Much luck and baby dust to you!

Watching CM patterns seems to work best for me. I couldn't never really do the Basal temp thing since i wake up too much during the night. My ob/gyn says she doesn't really rely on those stats anyway.. but it does work for some people, so who knows! My CM patterns seems pretty consistent and on target.. you should maybe add that to your mix.

Have you tried ovulation prediction kits? Worked great for me. Also took 2-4 cups of green tea to increase cervical mucous, robitussin 5-7 days before O to thin out the mucous. hope that helps!

Also try to have him ejaculate while your BDing doggy style that way the sperm is closer to where it needs to be. Also i chekc my Cm which helps me big time.

Watching cm is the cheapest way to go. However, I bought the Clearplan Fertility Monitor and am thrilled with it. I was pregnant twice in 6 months. If your cycle days are always the same (for example 28 day cycle) then I would watch cm and have intercourse days 13 and 14 of your cycle. I used to take my temp but it spikes after ovulation so basically it is informing you about your cycle more than anything. I don't think position has much to do with success. I used to raise my bottom in the air too but if you have cm, they'll swim!!!

I also agree with the previous advice to read the book, Taking Charge of Your Fertility, it's by Toni Weschler. Not only does this book tell lots of ways to gauge your fertility, but it also gives you a ton of information about your body. This book really should be required reading for all women.

Anyway, that aside, you might want to try to gauge your cervical mucus. It's the easiest thing in the world to do and can tell most women ahead of time when they will ovulate approximately (look for clear or egg-white consistency and a wet feeling). Once you see this, ovulation could be anytime within the next 1-3 days in many women. If your body temp rises after this, you'll then know you were right, and can start planning accordingly next month. Cervical position is great too for many women, although I personally can NOT figure that one out (my cervix feels the same to me the whole time, LOL). Supposedly, when the cervix feels high, soft and open, your are likely at your most fertile and ovulation is imminent.

I have used some of the ovulation kits too and they work, although now that I'm watching my cervical mucus closely I find I don't need them because I already know I'm about to ovulate. But if you don't feel like watching mucus, this may be the way to go for you! :)
Good luck, whichever method you choose.
