My 89 Yr Old Mother Has Been On Actonel For Several Months And Has Now Been Given Boniva (taken 2 Pills). Since Starting Actonel She Has Developed Shaking In Her Hands. When Asking The Dr He Says That Is A Sign Of Age. This Would Be Well And Good if She Had Been Shaking For Years Or Months (at What Age Does Old Age Start :) . It Is Of Great Concern To Her And As I Watch It Get Worse Feel There Is A Medical Reaction Or Something Causing It. Does Anyone Out There Have The Same Problem With Actonel? It Is Really Become Severe And She Is Not Able To Control It. She Does Have Pagets Disease And Osteo. Thank You.

I'm not sure if shaky hands is a side effect. Does she see more than one doctor because maybe she could be seen by her primary care doctor. I would get it checked out because aging doesn't cause shaky hands.

Thanks For Answering - She Does See Family Dr, Along With An Indocrinologist (sp?) And Was Referred To A Neurologist Who Ran A Bunch Of Tests. When She Reported To Him She Was "shaking Like A Leaf" His Reply Was "a Maple Leaf" - Which Caused A Little Bit Of Frustation On Her Part. Some Drs Show No Common Sense. She Has Been Used As Guenia Pig By The Indocrinologist As He Has Never Had A Patient Of That Age To "study" And Tries All Of The New Things On Her. We Are About To Remove Them All As At Her Age And Having Good Health Til Now We Can't See Causing More Problems. I Wonder If A Vitamin For Nerve Stabalization Would Help. Any Suggestions Would Be Appreciated.

Have you requested a copy of the test results? That might be a good idea then you could take these with you to another doctor to look at. I wouldn't give up until you get to the bottom of this. You can also ask the pharmacist about whether shaking hands is a side effect of Boniva. Lots of medications have more pronounced side effects in elderly patients.
