View Full Version : Anemia & Hair Loss?

I have anemia and have been receiving one B12 injection and 5/1000micgrams of Infed per month for the last 3 months. Just finished the third round. I have noticed that my hair seems to be falling out. Not in clumps or anything just more on my hands after my shower and before I dry it. Could this be related to the anemia and the injections? I haven't changed any meds before injections started except Dr. started me on 1mg of Folic Acid otherwise everything is the same. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Thanks for the input.

I know how you feel...My hair did not stop falling out until I had been on the injections for six months...I am sure it will stop soon...If not mention it to your doctor...

I don't know if this is a side effect of anemia or not. Have you had any surgeries lately? I had surgery a couple years ago and lost about half my hair for 8 months or so. Usually hair falling out is due to a lack of protein or nutrition so i guess it is possible that it is due to the anemia. I would try to make sure you get in all of your vitamins (not just the B12 etc.) as well as up your protein intake. Some people have had luck with taking large does of Biotin (a supplement) as well.

good luck & best wishes,
Amanda
