Hello everyone, I just have a question, and I hope to get some answers. I had ulner nerve transposition earlier this year. i have been in therepy for 6 months, doing simple exercises( only able to life 1.5 lbs). My question is I have been experencing some terrible pains in the upper arm, as well as shoulder. One example is while I am using a scrubbi in the shower, when I try to clean my right shoulder, i get these tingly needle like jabs. Also when I put my seatbelt on it bothers my left shoulder something terrible. I am going back to see the surgeon next week to ask him what is going on, even though I was not to see him until March of next year. This is starting to worry me. If anyone has had this surgery, and maybe had the same experience, please let me know. I just don't understand why the pain is not just in the wrist, and elbow, but now it is starting to bother the upper part of my arm. Thank you

did you have it done in elbow?
I had both of mine done 2 & 3 of 2004 and my right one id messed up again. I guess it's demyenating (sp) the protective coating is gone. So definately go back to see someone.
And yes, mine I can feel both up and down my arm-but it affected me that way the first time as well.

well I went back to see my neurosurgeon, and he took me right off of my therepy for 2 months. He thinks I might have tendonitus in my wrist, and posssibly damage to the tricep. He wants to see if after 2 months if anything changes, if not then he wants to have an MRI done, to see if possibly there is something piched in the neck area or more damage to the nerve(possibly pinched disk) so if there is anyone else who has had anything simular to this, feedback would be a great help :) Thank you

I had cubital tunnel/carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand in Sept 2002 and on my left hand in May 2003. Everything was fine until 2 months ago when my hands began to tingle. They did an EMG and found very mild cubital tunnel/carpal tunnel. My doc is reluctant to do anything at this point, and is afraid that if they do more surgery it might fail. My hand really doesn't hurt, except for the tingling, and I can pretty much go about my business. I'm going to ask for an mRI just in case.
Best,
Barnett

Hello Bserchuk,
Thank you for the information, every little bit helps. Like I said I go back to my neurosurgeon on jan. 24th, and then he will let me know if an MRI is necessary. Now I have been on a new prescription called lyrica, so far all it does is make me tired, and just prolongs the problem, at least that is my opinion, there are many other opinions on this site about this new drug. So after the 24th, I will see what is going to take place, thank you again and best of luck for you. :)

I had ulner nerve transposition in early August of this year, along with carpel tunnel release. Have had pain and atrophy since. Lost much function and muscle tone. Ask your orth. surgeon if you could possibly have Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. If you do, early diagnosis is important and you must start occ. therapy right away so it doesn't get worse. That's what I am doing, still 3 months later.
;) :)
