View Full Version : Pulling sensation?

Can anyone explain what the pulling sensation everyone talks about actually feels like? I felt little flutters this afternoon, but I don't think I would describe them as "pulling"? Just curious if it's supposed to be a sharp pain, or more subtle.

I'm currently 10 dpo and obsessing... :)

Thanks in advance!

Mine was more of a sharp pain, ESPECIALLY when I would stand up from a sitting position to a standing I would almost double over! Also when I coughed and sneezed or even laughed hard I felt it! I still get that some days and I am almost 5 months. I know that its not the same for everyone and some women dont even experience them at all. I found out very early (10dpo) and the pulling sensation probably didnt start until 5-6 days later-but everyone is different. Good luck and sticky baby dust your way!!!

Thank you so much!!!! I love hearing "real" experiences. It's unfortunate that every woman is different though, in terms of symptoms, because it makes it very frustrating in the 2ww! hahaha Oh well, not much longer now. I hate to say I think this could be the month, but...this could be the month!! :)

I had them with my last pregnancy and am TTC now and am having them again. I will test in one more day!! ANYWAYS For me it is on my right side and it starts as a light dull ache and grows more intense. It sometimes spreads into my back where it seems I can feel the pain moving to my back. It is weird. I also have been getting it lately (few days ago) when I stand too quickly. hmmmm BABY DUST TO US BOTH!!! I hope this helps. :bouncing:

Just to wish you luck.

I have heard that the pulling sensation is like cramp travelling from one side of you abdomen to the other and sometimes just one side, (or so my friend tells me) she also said that she had spasms there as well but like you say every woman is different.

Good luck hun and sprinklings of baby dust to you :)

I've had this exact same thing happen a couple of times the past few days. A couple of times when I stood up I had sharp pains and once when I sneezed it hurt. Never really had that before. And my bbs have been really sore.

Hopefully this is OUR month! ALOdem, what dpo are you? When do you plan to test?

Thanks, Sammie, for your words. Today I've had more cramping, and a poking like cramp on the left side that wont stop. It just now has become more mild, af-type cramps. I HOPE this is it! I hate to get my hopes up, but I just have a really good feeling about it this time.

(ok, so I've had THAT feeling before too...haha!)

I'm not sure Brooke. I came off depo last december so I've been waiting for that to clear. I took one dose of Prometrium on oct 19 to start my periods again and I had what I thought was a period Oct 24-26 so going by online calculators I should have ovulated yesterday. BUT I have no idea really since I just started monitoring things. I took a hpt last week to see if what I thought was a period was actually implantation, but it was negative. That period was really really light and I've never had a light period in my life so I started wondering WHAT IF? More like just hoping I guess. I think it was probably light because I only took one dose instead of 10 days (doc didn't like side effects so he told me not to take anymore). But reading about those pulling sensations got me to thinking (hoping) again that I could already be pg. I've heard that some people will ovulate once depo clears their system and get pg right away without having to wait for their periods to start back. I was really hoping I would be one of them!

Sorry so long - a lot of confusion going on with me. Good luck!

aww good luck to you, too! I have a friend going through the same thing...she's been off the shot for awhile now, and the prometrium isn't working. ugg! I wish that shot didn't exist! It causes so many issues for so many women.

In any case, I am PRAYING that you get your BFP this time...I know it's going to be a long 2ww for ya, hon! hang in there!!!! :)

Brooke -

When I was PG this summer I definitely had the pulling sensation.. kind of like AF cramps, but more dull and they never seemed to stop. Mine was more to the left side. I started getting them a few days before I was expecting AF cramps. Sounds promising! (Unforntunately i miscarried in July but am currently in the 2WW again ;) )

Good luck!!!

I'm so sorry for your miscarriage in July!!!! But good for you for staying at it and trying again. Was that your first pregnancy? My fingers are crossed HARD for you this time!!
It does sound promising, my cramps seem to be a lot like yours were. A few hours ago I had about 4 or 5 SHARP little pains on my right side. SHARP! Then they stopped, and I'm back to the regular dull cramps that have been a constant for me today. We'll see in a few days, I suppose!
Again, I'm sorry for your recent loss, and will say a prayer that THIS 2ww is your LAST! :)

Brooke -

Thanks so much for your kind words! It's been one heck of a summer, but I am hopeful things work out for me this time around. Yes - that was my first pregnancy, so it's not the way I wanted things to go, but I got through it.

The pulling feeling is a good sign. I was also more tired than usual and my stomach was really noisy and loud all the time! That started before the pulling/cramping did. My stomach was a little noisy last night from dinner, so of course DH was thinking that maybe I am pregant again! He's so positive..gotta love him :)

When do you plan to test?

I think I'm going to test on Saturday or Sunday. I'm chicken. hahaha i just hate seeing that BFN! But, it is what it is, and if it's negative, we'll move on to next month. In the grand scheme of things, another month or two doesn't really matter, ya know?

Or so I try to tell myself!!

I hope your dh is right, and you ARE pg!!! He sounds like a sweetheart! GOOD LUCK and keep me posted!!!

When I was PG this summer, I tested about 4 days after AF was due. But I had a "feeling" that I was..I can't explain it. I just kept getting all kinds of signs!!

You have a great attitude.. it is what it is.. everything definitely happens for a reason! I can't wait to hear your results! Post as soon you test!

Good luck!!! :bouncing:

Yes....af showed up right on time this past Saturday! So much for all the symptoms...haha. I was disappointed for a minute, but now I'm looking forward to next week when we get another chance at it. I have to remind myself that this is only the 3rd month we've been trying.

Good luck to ALL of us!!! :)

Sorry to hear that Brooke.. you do have a great attitude! Each month when I get AF, I think the same thing - "atleast O is around the corner!"
