My older sister came to stay with us a month ago and after the first day she came I got a fever and a couple of itchy red bump/lumps under my breast. The fever went away after 5 days. But i've continued to get itchy bumps, on my stomach (near ribcage area), sides , collar bone, neck, inner elbows and tops of arms This has been going on for a month. At first I thought it was fleas because our dogs had fleas, but we treated them with frontline, vaccuumed the floor, couches, dog bedding in hot water etc. I'm still getting it! I went to the doctor 2 days ago and he said it's probably just an allegry (because it is spring here), he gave me razene (which i believe is the generic version of zyrtec). I've taken the razene twice now and I still feel itchy, and I woke up this morning with a new red bump/lump underneath the 2 bumps i already had on my stomach. My sister told me that she's been getting itchy at night and has black dots appearing on her body she thinks they are mosquito bites. She showed me the one on the back of her hand (i looked scabies up on the net and it looks like it). My mum or brother haven't complained of any itchiness. Could i have scabies or is it just a seasonal allergy like the doctor said? (wouldn't it have gone away with the anti histamine?)

I am not sure but I would think that if you went to the doctor and he didn't seem to think it was scabies then its not scabies, I know how you feel though when you have a rash that is driving you nuts and you cant seem to figure out what it is.. I know I conjured every horrible rash in the book up until I figured out thanks to this site and Mitch what I had. Good luck I hope you get some relief soon.

Well, I don't think it's scabies. My daughter got them but there were no symptoms until about a month later--after I found out that her little cousin had them. They started out with one pimple like bump on her foot that raised a little then more and more started to show up around it. By the time I got her to the doctor there was also a clear fluid that was coming out of them and right away the doctor knew what it was.

so in my experience, it's takes a lot longer to get the symptoms of scabies than a day. I think you will be ok. If you are worried though, you can ask your doctor to get some scrapings of your sores and look at it under a microscope. That will tell them if you really have them. You can also look very carefully at them and see if the bumps form a swirly pattern (the scabies migrate on your skin-they leave little paths through their burrows). You might want your older sister to see a doctor, that would also shed some light.

Good Luck. :)

It's not scabies - you'd have intense itching behind the knees, between fingers - in soft fleshy areas. It also take weeks for it to appear.
