Back in July I suffered from a 3-day long headache. It was the worst I'd ever had and I've never really had headaches that often. Right before I decided to go to the doctor, both of my ears and my nose began to have pressure and pain. the doctor said it was allergies and gave me Allegra-D. I took it along with tylenol for a couple of days and felt better. I didn't have any problems with it again until I start back to work in late August (i teach school.) My left ear started bothering me and I felt bad again. So, I filled the prescription for Allegra- D and began taking it again. When I got better, I stipped taking the medicine, then about 2 or 3 weeks later, it happened again, this time after my ear started hurting, i also had discomfort in my shoulder and neck (right around my collar bone) and kind of an itchy feeling between my ear ,neck, and shoulder along with fatigue. This cycle has continued for almost 3 months now and sometimes i get a little pain under my arm, and my chest feels congested with drainage in my throat. Is all this still allergy related? The Allegra doesn't seem to work as well as it did in the beginning. I hate going to the doctor...should I go for a reevaluation?

Yup, still sounds allergy related...I'd say go back to the doc, if the meds aren't working. Does the chest congestion cause you breathing difficulty/coughing? If so, I'd make sure to mention that to the doc.

I would. It does sound like it could be allergies. You may want to go to an allergist to see what it is that might be bothering you so you can work on elliminating it or getting shots. I have also found that my body becomes immune to medications after taking them for awhile. They may decide to put you on more of an allergy prevenative such as Flonase or singulair.
Good luck,
Amanda

It definitely sounds like allergies. I agree with the others to get reevaluated.

Not Mandy, but I take Singulair too, along with my Zyrtec. Singulair is a leukotriene inhibitor. Leukotrienes are another part of the allergic reaction. Singulair was originally an asthma drug, but as they discovered many asthma patient's allergy symptoms improved, they tested and got approval for use it allergies also. It really helps me a lot. There is some preliminary research that it helps with preventing sinusitis when administered in a nosespray! Of course it will take years before that comes on the market.
