View Full Version : seasonal allergies and vomiting

I'm two weeks into a pretty bad seasonal allergy attack. Severe coughing is my worst symptom brought on by post nasal drip, it seems. The other night, two hours after dinner, I suddenly felt nauseous, dizzy and vomited quite violently. In the morning, I awoke with a headache, didn't feel too good but decided to see if I could hold down some plain oatmeal. Nope, vomited that up too.

This same vomiting thing happened to me during my last allergy attack six months ago. With that one I attributed it to taking a bit more than the recommended dose of some cough syrup with guffu---whatever that expectorant stuff is called. But now the vomiting has happened again, and I hadn't been taking that stuff. I *had* been eating endless cough drops, some very sweat Chinese remedy cough syrup. Was it this? Or is my body just freaking out?

Anyone else vomit when they have allergies? Sometimes I do have drive heaves from coughing too much, but these incidents have occured separataely from the coughing. I just suddenly feel faint and boom. Sorry, not a very pleasant topic, but I'm looking for answers and am wondering if I'm alone in this.

It's probably all the post nasal drip phlem dripping down your throat and upsetting your stomach. Have you tried taking any benedryl etc. to help dry up the phlem? Hope you feel better soon.

PND can cause nausea, especially if it is infected drainage. I would go back to the doctor and make sure you don't have sinsusits.
