From what I understand after you have the spike in temps you have already ovulated, but are you still fertile for that day? Also a few days before the spike I have a drop in temps is this when the egg is released? How long after the egg is released does your body temps rise?

Every women is different so it's going to be impossible to answer all of your questions specifically. I'll try to tell you what I do know though. :) Yes, your temp rises after you O. Usually, you will see a jump of .4 degrees or more in one day. However, some women see a gradual rise. What you are looking for is a biphasic pattern, meaning you have a cluster of lows followed by a cluster of highs. Don't pay attention to individual temps, as they are likely to vary a bit from day to day. I usually wait until I see at least 3 high temps in a row before I consider it O. (Actually, I've been doing this for a while now, so I usually know after 1 day.) The day of your lowest temp was most likely O day, which was when the egg was released. You may or may not still be fertile after the temp rise. You should still BD for the next 2 days after you notice a temp rise for best odds. Sometimes we O twice in one cycle, with one egg being released shortly after the first one. If this happens and you keep BDing after the first rise, then your chances are pretty good of catching it. Also, there is no way to know at exactly what hour the egg was released, so if you BD afterwards, it may still be making its way down the fallopian tube. Charting can be a bit confusing, but I think it is worth it. It can tell you so much about your body. Keep doing it and you will get used to it. Hope this helped.
