I went to the doctor today because I think I have another bacterial/yeast infection. When she examined me, she said that everything looked OK, but that she would send out the culture anyway, just to be sure. I expressed my concerns to her that I keep getting recurrent yeat and vaginal infections. Last time I went to the doctors they tested me for diabetes and that was negative. Today, she asked if I was ever tested for HIV and I am just so scared right now. I told her I had never been tested and she recommended that I do so just to make sure my immune system wasn't being compromised. I already have autoimmune diseases (Raynauds and Gastroparesis) and she said that this might be compromising my immune system, but that checking for HIV was still a good idea. So anyway, I got tested, but now I am so worried that I could have this. I will not getthe results until next Tuesday or Wednesday. The other thing is that I have had my blood tested before for cancer (because I have a cyst on my spleen) and all my bloodwork came back perfect, so if I had HIV, wouldn't SOMETHING have shown wrong in the bloodwork. Can anybody help me with this? I am going crazy.

actually, HIV doesnt genrally show up for 6 months, in testing, after you get it, so its important to get tested more than once if your worried about having it, but if you have problems with your immune system and have safe sex (and hopefully havent slept with/touched the blood of anyone having HIV or AIDS), you should try not to worry, getting tested was a very good idea, but your infections are likley due to your weak immune system (i have a very weak one, and i have similar problems)

Yeah, I think you're right - I think it would have shown in your bloodwork, depending on how long ago it was that you may have been infecteted with HIV. Did you ask your doc about this? Maybe you should do.

But this test for HIV sounds totally rountine. I get yeast and bacterial infections allllll the time, and I've never even had sex. Mine come back immediately after treatment. I wouldn't be too worried.
