Can anyone tell me what I should be using for the cuticles and skin area around my nails? They're dried and cracking and I find myself picking and peeling and then I've picked so much they bleed and hurt. I've tried oils and lotion but doesn't keep them moist enough or work fast enough...any suggestions? Need help bad

I use Burt's Bees Lemon Butter cuticle creme. It's fabulous and not expensive.

Check my post under 'flakes anyone' for recomended nail and skin oils. You can purchase the product or mix your own. It can take anywhere from weeks to a few months to see improvement. Apply the oil at LEAST twice daily - more often if you work with paper or fabrics, if you have your hands in water a lot or use household cleaning solutions without wearing gloves.

Olive oil works pretty good. Most oils you should put on right after showering or washing your hands. The cuticle is already softened by the warm water.

Olive oil is good for just about any type of 'lubrication' but the molecular structure is way too large to penetrate the skin and doesn't have any type of moisturizing or conditioning properties. Vitamin E also has a very large molecular structure and can do no more than sit on the surface of the skin. If one wants to condition, moisturize and heal the skin and nails, one needs to use an oil that contains jojoba and vitamin E in the mixture. I have been using this mixture of oils since the middle 70's and have excellent skin and nails. One can even apply it to the hair if their hair is dry or chemically burned from perms, color or bleach.
