Hello, I have been TTC for 3 years and started out charting my temps about 2 years ago as recommended by my OB before I started to visit an RE. You just need to pick a consistant time every morning to take your temp, you need to do this as soon as you wake up and before you ever get out of bed. They say you should actually get a BBT (Basal Body Temperature) Thermometer as they are more sensitive then a regular thermometer. Just start charting your temp starting with the first day of your cycle so you can get a hang of your temp patterns from month to month. Once you have a few months of temps charted, this will help you to get a better idea of when you ovulate. The only thing with charting is that you will not know when you ovulate until after the fact, which is why this will not do you any good until you have a few months of temps to compare to so you can get an idea of what day you ovulated each month to try and determine when you should ovulate in the future. {removed} I hope this helps you out a bit, good luck to you!
