I had my son 8 1/2 months ago and i don't understand my cycles. I have been getting them every 28 days or every 30 days or sometimes every 23 days. The last couple months i spot brown for about 5 days or so and then finally bleed normal and my period lasts a few days longer then a week. before i start to bleed i do feel on my left side like there is a little discomfort but not too bad. When i called ob/gyn i get the snotty nurse the same one all the time and she always says well go on birth control if you want to and i don't want to go on the pill. I mean is the pill is what is gonna help and how long should i stay on it? i have been on the pill before and i don't like to be on it. My mom had cysts and problems and no one believed her until she found a good ob and he gave her a hysterectomy (mispell?) but i know i am young and don't want that but why don't they check me for other problems? they say just go on the pill. has anyone else ever experienced this?

That is kinda what I am going through. I have a stabbing pain in my lower left side. My cycles are regular, but I am on the pill right now. I had a cyst a few years ago and whenever I mention the pain they tell me to go on BCP. If I am on it they up the dose. Then i get sick. It is fustrating. I have had a lap a couple years ago. Everthing was fine back then. I have also had several internal and external ultra sounds. Those check for cysts. The pain left when I got Pregnant with my daughter. They just came back a couple days ago. She too is 8 1/2 months old.

I wouldn't be too concerned with you cycle not being the same. Mine has been a little different since I had my baby. If you experiencing too much pain call and make an appt. Don't ask the nurse if you should, just make an appt and talk to the Dr. My Dr told me that it is normal for your cycle to be a little messed up after a baby. She told me it is normal for you to bleed heavy for up to 3 weeks or so after a baby. I never did. She said that I was lucky. It is neat that we have the same age babies.
