I have been on cymbalta for 2 weeks. I have lost 14 lbs! I asked my doc if my weight was part of my pain. He ofcourse said yes. I topped out at 201 and was steady at 196. I now wiegh 182! My pain is almost gone in my hips, and i love the wieght loss. Now only if I can get back down to my pre pregnancy wieght of 132 I'd be happy.
My concern you ask? Well, as I read the long term effects it had stated that there was a high risk of anorexia. I still have quite an appetite, but I do not eat as much. Has anyone here had this experience, or does anyone have any further info? I dont want to loose too much wieght, and I dont want to become anorexic. I would be happy at 140 lbs.

Cymbalta makes you lose weight? Wow! I didn't know that. I've gotten kinda lax at reading the leaflets that come with my meds. I knew I couldn't eat as much, even pizza as I used to could. In fact I could pizza with the best of 'em. I used to could eat a whole large by myself! I haven't done that in a while, In fact I got one tonught and I ate 3 pieces, only 3, I couldn't eat another bite. I just looked at it. I was actually wondering if something else about my body was off. I am sooo glad I got back on the computer tonight and saw your post. I've also got to where I drink less Dr. Pepper. Wow, I've been wanting to lose some weight for some time now. I willl be mentioning this side effect to my drs. though so they can warn any of their slender patients. Thanks for letting me know.

I'm shocked!!! a medicine for pain that doesn't make you gain weight. Hallelujuh!!!! Thanks for the info if it is ever suggested to me I won't be so quick to say no thanks. Most drugs like that put weight on and I have a hard enough time without drugs.

Cymbalta is an antidepressant. How ever it blocks the pain messages from the brain to the pain. A side effect is the suppressed appetite. I have pain everywhere, especially in my hips. I was also prescribed an anti-inflamatory for the intense pain. So far I have not had to use it. I wait until I am in tears to use any pain meds. Please talk to your doc. I would hate to mislead anyone. There may be info on this med I do not know of.
April414, let me know how you do.

It is good to hear that you are having some positive side effects from Cymbalta. Not everyone reacts to this medicine in the same manner, however. :( I did not do well on Cymbalta, and within 4 months of treatment I had to change medicines because I didn't do well with the effect on my dopamine levels (brain chemical, such as serotonin). I became very flat emotionally or I would drop into a deeper depression. I was devasted that the medication did not help me as my first month I felt better than I had in years. I had less pain, more energy and a decreased appetite! I hope the effects you are experiencing continue - I wish you sincere Good Luck! :D
