Hello all.
I've recently posted about my IBS flare up after taking Zithromax. Does anyone have any specific info on how to treat the flare up (already been to the doc...no infection present)? I'm looking for information on how to keep the intestines healthy and "moving along" :) I currently take Acidophilus from time to time as well as a chewable fiber supplement. My doctor mentioned taking something that began with a C and I can't remember what the hec he told me. Haha. It was a supplement of some kind. Any advice would be appreciated. This last flare up was one of the worst kinds of pain i've ever experienced and I'd like to attempt to prevent it from happening again. Thanks! :)

Probably calcium carbonate... which helps soak up excess water in the intestines and bulk up the stools... Definitely get the carbonate form of calcium. A popular brand is Caltrate +D. Make sure there aren't any added vitamins or minerals. Just the calcium plus vitamin D.

There is even a caltrate colon health which you can get pretty much anywhere.

Culturelle?

If that isn't it... Then I don't know what supplement starting with a C ending in an ele, you are referring to.

Hi guys,

Maybe it is just a coincidence, Maybe it isn't:

Ele also stands for extinction level event - I feel that sometimes IBS can feel that way. (although it is different for me).

Cheers, Raju. ;)

haha, raju, it's good to see you post again!

i know its a probiotic... and probiotics help balance and maintain the healthy intestinal flora... they are the "friendly" bacteria.

there is new research that suggests probiotics might really help ibs.

i know research has been done b4, but it's a new study.
