Is it normal to be irregular??? I mean, I got my period when I was 12, I'm now 20 and I never know when Im going to get my period each month. If anything, the most I can do is narrow it down to either the beginning of the month or the end of the month. Sometimes I'll get it towards the end of the month,(always on different dates), for a couple of months straight, then all of a sudden I'll get in the in middle of the month. that'll last for a couple of months then I'll get it like on the first of a month. I dont see what can cause this irregularity. I can tell if I'm going to get it because of the soreness in my breasts and the discharge but other than that its usually a surprise. Another thing I've noticed is that the days my period lasts are different now than they were before. At the beginning I my period would last about 3-5 days.. then a couple years later it would last 5-7 days even 8 at times. And now I'll only get bleeding for about 1-2 days and spotting for like 3... is there something wrong with me? I've never had children, I am a virgin and I"m not on birth-control.... Should I be worried? oh yeah, and I"ve never been to a gyno. before.

I'm not an expert on this but I can tell you that I am the same way. When I was in high school, I would never have a cycle at the same time each month. When women are around other women, then their cycles tend to fall during the same time. What I mean by this is, I have a friend that I am normally around 3-4 times a week. For some reason, if she is a week late, I too will be late. I don't know the cause of this but I can tell you this much, there is probably nothing wrong with you. I do recommend you see a gyno just for a check up. Talk with them, they may put you on birth control even though you are not sexually active, just so your period will be on a more normal level each month. Don't be scared to see the gyno either, it is uncomfortable but it doesn't hurt. Don't stress about this too much. I really think you are fine. One last thing, I applaude you for not being sexually active yet. Take care and smile!

Its not normal to have irregular periods especially when they suddenly become irregular after being regular for so long. Birth control pills will help with regulating your periods but its best to find out why your periods are so irregular before you start birth control pills.
I would see your GYNO for a check up. You can get a referral via your doctor. Dont worry as its probably nothing but its best to get yourself checked over. :)

Do you have any or very heavy cramping? I know a girl who was 19 and never had a period, was a virgin, never been on bc or had a pelvic exam. She went to the gyno and there was nothing physically wrong with her. He put her on bc so she would have a period. Of course, she hated it and thought she was gonna die so she quit taking the pills and has never started back. Everyone is different. But I would definitely go see a gyno and have a pelvic exam. May be nothing but better safe than sorry. Good luck!

You probably do need to see a gyno, just based on your age. Even though you are not sexually active it's a good idea to start screening for potential problems. I reccomend seeing a woman b/c you will probably be more comfortable. As far as your periods go are you certain that they are irregular? Could it be that you just have a longer cycle? I used to think I was irregular b/c my cycles were usually (still are) longer than 30 days. Turns out cycles are considered normal anywhere from 21 days to 35 days. You should really pay more attention to how many days you have in between periods rather than what part of the month it occurs. If it turns out that you do indeed have irregular periods then the DR will want to check for various things like thyroid, PCOS, hormonal imbalance, etc. If you don't want to go on the pill you could consider taking Vitex/ Chaste Tree Berry which is an herb that is EXCELLENT at regulating your cycle. Good luck and try not too panic too much. Odds are really good that you are perfectly healthy. :)
