I have posted on here about a long search for a diagnosis of many symptoms. Not even a week's stay in the hospital in Sept. yielded much insight. But recently some answers emerged.
I have had an enlarged thymus and RPRs positive for syphilis. Rib and back pain on and off for a year. Facial flushing, episodic bronchospasm, and constipated diarrhea for most of the year. Carcinoid syndrome was suspected--at least by me, after I read about it. Tests have not shown it. And I've had plenty.
My private area had been turning dark blue since Sept. The doctors seemed to think I was exaggerating. Two days ago my right hand turned blue. Earlier in the year I'd had freezing cold hands and feet. Immediately the doctor said, "Raynauld's."
Some gastro bleeding, still unsure the cause. Could possibly have been hemorrhoids, but the first time, I don't think so. Colonoscopy and upper GI normal.
Well, my bloodwork has been normal all this time. They have done extensive bloodwork--and recently I've had more than one urinalysis. But my doctor mentioned multiple myeloma with the back pain and shortness of breath I've had. I have had numerous liver and lung tests. I'm scheduled for kidney tests now. I spent a long time worrying about carcinoid. This might be a good time to tell you that symptoms do not a particular disease make, necessarily.
"Virus" is still a word my doctor is using. Totally normal blood counts. If I've had the back pain a year, why would my white blood cell count, calcium, creatinine, etc., all show normal?
The shortness of breath was linked at first to my tachycardia problems. My doctor says my crashing thyroid mystery is now clearly linked to the thymus and the positive RPRs and their connection to Raynauld's. He said longstanding gum infections could even be part of all this. I have had joint pain and fatigue on and off all year.
Myeloma is blood cancer, basically. Does anyone know anything about this? Can your bloodwork be normal while you have what might be a very strong symptom of myeloma (back/rib pain)?
God bless all of you! Stay alive!
