The tooth in front of my wisdom tooth broke at the gumline. About 1/4 so I can see part of the inside of the tooth. It hurt a bit the first few days but now it doesnt hurt. I use flouride a lot and I can't really do anything about it until December when my insurance begins. I know this is probably really bad. What do you think will be the solution to this? And how much do you think it will cost? Also how bad does the pain of a cavity have to be if you think it will require a root canal? Because some of my teeth hurt when I drink cold water. Thanks for the help

I did some research on the internet and my fracture looks like its a 'cuspal fracture'.

Hi,
The dentist may consider putting a crown on it or it may not be as bad and they'll just fill it. Good luck. I would at least make an appt. now so you can get to your dentist when your insurance kicks in again!
Good luck

Is it possible to fill a tooth where the edge is broken off? I thought you needed a surrounding support? I have no clue. But thanks!

Sounds like a crown. If the roots are there and some of the tooth exists then all you will need is a crown. Cost in NY about $800.
