i don't know what to do i am getting sick of my straight hair and want a change but i am thinking of getting a perm but don't know cause are they damaging to hair i have heard they are? i will get it done at a salon if i do and are there any good products to help keep permed hair healthy? I am getting a CHI iron for my wavy hair but now i wonder should i get a perm instead. does anyone else have a perm and their curls stay nice and no damage or frizz? not sure if i should stay straight or go curly LOL i just don't want damaged hair

any type of chemical is damaging to hair.
from some of your previous posts that i've read, your hair is already damaged. i'd be very cautious about perming it. if you want curly hair without so much damage, try a curling gel or spray in your hair when it is damp, then blowdrying on low heat with a diffuser. this is what i do to my hair on "curly" days and it looks great.

yes i know it damaged now i was gonna wait until the stylist says my hair is ok again to do it and my stylist already said my hair isn't that bad so it won't be too long but thanks for advice :)

You just contradicted yourself. Do you have straight hair or wavy hair?

All chemicals are damaging. But I have been getting perms every year. I am lazy & hate to style my hair. I would get 2 a year now 1 a year. I have slightly wavy hair & the perms I have gotten look great. They are not like perms of years ago. Just use shampoo & conditioner for permed hair, use a lot of conditioner it will keep the curls looking bouncy & not frizzy. Also use a diffuser on your hair dryer. You can tell them to do your hair with loose curls & not tight. Your stylist knows your hair & will give you the right perm! Good luck.
