I'm not worried about my son.. relieved that the new dr agrees with me he could use help with his speech... his vocabulary is awesome... it's just... understanding it.. is like.... uh...   .... lol. i have "mommy ear" and have been working with him so i can understand him more... his father (my ex) talks like a mixture of Pauly Shore and a turtle to him... and i TRY to get him NOT to... explain reasons to him and all... AUGH!!!!

ANYWAY .... the new pediatrician recomended speech therapy to help his pronunciation (tongue is fine etc)... at the local elementary school (where my daughter goes to Kindergarten)... I'm just wondering what kind of stuff to maybe expect???

Thanks :)

My 8 yr old son has been in speech therapy since he was 3.5 yr old. I never realized how serious it was until the speech teacher evaluated him. Another pre-school teacher was there and she had a hard time understanding what he was saying. My mommy ear heard everything plainly although I knew no one else might not hear it completely.
The speech teacher will just work on the different sounds he may be having trouble with. One of the hardest for my son was any sounds where you need to put your tongue to the back of your upper teeth. She put a fruit gummy there and told him to lick the gummy when he said certain letters (it helped his brain realize where the placement of his tongue needed to be).
My son just thought it was a fun time and never considered work. Yours should do the same.
Wishing you all the best!
