Lainey: I've had IBS daily for several years. I even have had what the doctors call "dumping syndrome" since I had stomach and intestinal surgery in 1975 due to a perforated duodenal ulcer. They removed 60% of my stomach and some (not sure how much) of my small intestine. All of that, but I was diagoised as having IBS eight years ago.

I found immense relief from an unending attack by taking one immodium at bedtime, along with good probiotics.

thank you for answering, i feel now that after 3 weeks i can manage it, its fallen into a routine and i can work around it, i tried immodium in the first week because i thought it was just a bad bug but it made me worse so im put off trying that again, i have got some probiotic drinks in and keep saying i will start having one of them a day, maybe now my h-pylori has been cleared i might tolerate them a bit better, i guess there is one way to find out :) Director, it sure sounds like you have had a rough time of it, at least i know now to possibly expect this to be a permanent thing in my daily routine of life, if it helps me keep the weight off then i dont mind  ( i am over weight so i didnt argue with losing 10lbs in less than 2 weeks )

Hey Lainey,
I was over weight when this all started for me too. I went from 208 down to 130 in the first year. Over the years, I have been able to stabilze at about 165. That is about right for my size and frame. The doctors said to eat five small meals per day, rather than three larger ones.

Speaking of probiotics, has anyone taken the OTC med Florastor? It's suppose to be good, but one other time the doctor put me on it, I didn'y notice any difference. Has anyone else tried it? If so, did it work for you? The doc wants me to take 500 mg of this morning and night.
