It started a couple of years ago. I started breaking out in these huge welts. I thought it was just stress. I didn't take anything out of the ordinary. I was visiting the ER all the time for allergic reactions. Could not figure out what I was allergic to. Then one day I went to take ibrophen and broke out. It was so weird. I had taken Ibrophen my entire life. Than it was asprin than aleve and then even Tylonol. Now I have recations to my asthma medicines. I was hospitalized last week for asthma and the night I was admitted they gave me a antibotic due to high wbc and I was fine the very next night they gave it to me I broke out. Its very frustrating because things I have taken all my life I no longer can take. Its scary at the same time because what if I eventually cant take anything. Has anyone else ever suffered from this? I also wonder if there is a underlying issue. Please forgive my spelling. Thank you.

Oh my goodness. My heart goes out to you. Have you seen an allergist? That would be a good place to start. Or perhaps an endocrinologist, perhaps the underlying issue is homonal? Sorry I don't have more answers.

I understand.. I was found to be allergic to aspirin at an early age (in the 60's when St. Joseph's aspirin was the fever reducer of choice) and was always told to stay away from ibuprofin as well. As a teenager I threw caution to the wind and tried motrin. No problems. I used the motrin for 12 years until I got pregnant with my first child. After a year I used motrin again...once...my face blew up like a balloon, my lips swelled, my eyes...it was bad.
I asked my allergist and she said that sometimes the body tollerates a medication for awhile and then just stops. Fortunately I have not shown reactions to tylenol...not that tylenol is very effective for me anymore. But I do understand your frustration.
I agree with sneezyd that hormones and allergic reactions can be related. Please keep us posted as to what you find out.
