5-8mm raised round, whitish-smooth patches started on shoulder 1 yr ago.
Not flakey/rough. Derm. said early on, most likely just damaged tissue from
sun. I'm fair, younger sorta' liked the beach. I had 3 a yr ago & now they
are spread to atleast 30 & a new doc said possible virus-warts or a med-
response. Freezing off would leave scars & more will probably show up. I'm
covered up all the time so people don't think I have something. Blood-wk is
fine. They R spreading on back, just inches apart. I can't get an answer from Dr's to Dx. Anyone know what this is. If they can't tell me anything, I'm sure
I'll get many more. I've tried searching net for pictures. Nothing seems to
match these pearly-like patches. Docs laughed when I asked for biopsy. They
said I'm not going to die from it! I am losing sleep though! Now I have 2 on
my upper neck that is noticeable. I feel like I'm going to have reptile-skin.
Appreciate any info or sites to check out.

I really have no idea what this is! It's kind of stupid how they didn't do a skin biopsy if they weren't sure what it was (atleast if they did one. they could rule out certain possible causes and get to the bottom of it). I haven't heard of warts affecting the back yet, but i suppose they could. Usually they go away on there own after 2 years, but there are treatments available to speed up the process.
There are so many benign/tumor/viral skin disorders out there and a skin biopsy should really be performed. You might not 'die from it' but it would be useful to find out what it it so it can be treated. Maybe you should try another dermatologist, someone who actually will listen to their patients.

Katie: Went to another derm. & he said it's probably old damaged skin & not
spreading, just coming out now due to age! Sure, we turn into toads as we
get older? They will not biopsy & now I have them on shoulders & chest.
Thank U for writing. Board would not accept any posts/replies till now? I
think docs R making more $ on fixing wrinkles than caring for health issues.

They might be what's called, molluskims. (spelling?) It's a rash that's in the chicken pox family. My son had gotten a rash years ago on his stomach and upper torso and that's when I found out what it was called. He froze them off like warts and the scabs just dried up and fell off. But it is very contagious and it does spread. It is not serious at all. Good luck

Linda: Thanks for post. Board gliched & have not been able to sign/post till
now. Don't think I have the same thing. My problem isn't contagious. Can't
even scratch these patches open. It's like they are round scars that appear
& stay at random. Not in clusters but here/there. I tried an OTC 'freeze' on
a small wart & it worked great & disappeared in 2 weeks. Then I tried a freeze
on 1 of these spots. It did nothing? Thought it would peel atleast or get red.
I now have another that is high on my neck. Don't know why drs. think it's
funny unless they're laughing about taking my money w/o an answer. Felt
like telling 1 that I noticed his brows were Botoxed wrong! Very strange lift
or lack of?
