I am losing my voice every week at work. I am fine at home but it starts to go on Monday. I am allergic to mold and certain foods (chicken and soy are the worst). I have been on allergy shots for 15 weeks with only moderate results. My ENT scoped me and says my voice box is inflammed due to acid reflux and put me on Sinulair, Nexium and Flonase. the Flonase made my voice worse so I stopped it.
Our office basement flooded last year and it is musty and moldy. Often we get files from the basement so they are all over the office. At least two other people at work have similar problems.
Anyone else have these problems? What can I do besides go work for a different firm? What if that is not the answer?

That is strange the Flonase made it worse and not better. The steroid in the Flonase should have helped the irritation. With all the mold at your workplace you might have chonic PND or even a mild sinus infection. That might explain why the Flonase made it worse, because it was causing more nasty gunk to drain.
15 weeks isn't long enough to get maximum results from the shots. It usually takes a good 6 months to a year.
Have you asked about them getting an environmental clean-up of the basement. If other employees are having problems, they really have a responsibility to clean it up. I don't know legally what they are required to do, but maybe you guys banding together and asking would be enough.
If not, perhaps you can buy a personal HEPA air cleaner for your workspace. They even make air cleaners you can wear around your neck for traveling, etc..
Truthfully though, the best thing is to get away from the mold. I had similar problems in an old house I lived in. Moving was the best thing I ever did.

i get the same way. My asthma and allergies are fine at home but at work I am a mess. It's because there is no air circulation in our office and we have very dry air. nothing i'm really allergic too just bad air quality.

I agree with Sneezydiva about getting the place checked out. If there is mold growing in the basement it may create health problems for all of the workers. Some molds can be extremely toxic and cause serious health problems. OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Agency /or Admin) is there to protect workers from unhealthy or unsafe work environments. We have a huge poster from them at work, that lists the basic safety issues. Sorry, I can't remember them all, it's long & I read it a long time ago, but they may be a good place to check about work environment issues.
I've also seen test kits for mold at home improvement stores, if you want to test the mold yourself.
