After many years of prednisone / ALL type leukemia, there seems to be knee and hip issues brought on by the prednisone. Now after an MRI it is said to be permanent damage. Anyone familiar with the hows and whys of this? Thanks!

Prednisone is a steroid. Steroids have a side effect of leaching out the calcium from the blood and bones and inihibiting the hypothalmus as well. while suppressing the cancerous blood cells that are formed in the bone marrow. It is a cost/benefits type medication that is used to treat all kinds of inflammation responses including asthma and over active immune systems as well as suppressing formation of cancerous blood cells. There is no easy way around this medication and it is also a factor in causing depression and psychosis in some.
