I am using Lantus insulin. I have been experiencing chest and back acne since I began using the Lantus. (Is this even a side effect?) I wonder if anyone else has experienced this? I am thinking of getting back on NPH and the Regular insulin sliding scale because most of the time since starting Lantus I am irritable, acne, moody, forgetful, and mostly lethargic with low sugar or just confused most of the time. I have began having all this when I started on the Lantus.

I think I can Answer both of you.
Marykatherine:
I would have my doubts that it is the insulin do this to you. I am on lantus and havent had anything like that happen. But you never know...it may be possible. I would suggest talking to your docter about it.
Littleangel3:
I have been a TypeI Diabetic for 25 years, was diagnosed when I was 10. It's not going to be easy for you or for him. It may be good that he was diagnosed at this age as he will be able to grow up and make it his lifestyle. It wont be as big of an ajustment as if he was diagnosed later in life.
Over 25 years I have experienced a lot and I feel I can give you some pretty good advice. Anything you want to know about just ask.

I used Lantus for about 6 months, about went nuts with it, sugars low in the morning, high in the evening, no control, started losing my eyesight, I found the glycemic indexing charts for foods, starting eating low glucose foods there are some books on *********** about these charts and dieting, author jennie brand-miller from Australia,(gave up bread, potatos and pop corn, and sugar items) follow the charts and you will be suprised about the outcome, for the bread I substituted ezekiel 4:9 bread, it has no carbs just protein and is great tasting, exercised, lost weight am now back on oral medicines glucophage & avandia, my blood sugars now running around 100
