Hello,

This is nothing too big, but this morning I was in a rush and reached into my pocket and a pencil in there went into my thumb. It was a #2 pencil, it made a small hole, and the graphite did not break off, but there is a little bit of graphite left under the skin, it seems. It's very small though. I tried washing it quite a bit with soap, and then put neosporin on it and then a band aid over that for the day.

Do you think it'll be fine?

Yes. If you see any reddness, tenderness, swelling, drainage or pustule, red streaks up your arm or fever then go to the doctor because these are signs of infection.

hi, about 20 years ago i poked the sharp end of a pencil in to the palm of my hand. I did as you did , washed it , applied neosporin , and a bandaid, and i never had any problems. The only thing i had was the dark gray color of the graphite under the skin, like you had mentioned. that part never went away. the stained area of skin is still visible there after all these years. Since it has now been a few weeks for you, how is yours, did you have any infection, and is the dark spot still there. ??
