Ok so I recently quit smoking on a daily basis...Sometimes on an occasional weekend I may have a cigarette or two after a cuople drinks. This weekend was a little different. I had been going through a very stressful breakup and felt the urge to smoke. I smoked almost a whole pack in one day. The next day my chest was extremely tight, ached a little, and it was quite difficult to breathe. Now after a couple days has passed, I feel a little better, but my chest still hurts. I think it is because of smoking so much after quiting, but I'm starting to get scared now! My chest isn't as tight and I'm breathing a little better, but now I have a faint pain on the left side of my chest towards the center that comes on and off. Sometimes the pain turns into a little bit of a burning feeling with a slight bit of tingling, but not very severe. I kind of think it might be my chest healing from the damage, but I get scared easily and I'm not sure what to do... any suggestions? Should I go to the doctor (they freak me out)????????

If you have any doubts about chest pain, go ahead and see the doctor. Have you had nausea, unusual sweating for no reason? I know from my own experience that smoking does irritate my lungs and chest quite a bit. There are other things that chest pain can indicate besides heart trouble.
