After blowing and wiping my nose it becomes every raw and a sore starts to develop on the skin between my nostrils (columella). The sore is red and kinda flaky and hurts really bad, if I were you pull off the hard skin it starts to bleed. This happens after blowing my nose and wiping a lot. I tried cold sore medicine but it's not helping. Does anyone know what the sore is and why it gets this way??? It seems like the more it gets wet the worse it gets.

I wish I knew what was going on, because the same thing happens to me!! I'm glad to know I'm not alone. My sore develops on one side of the inside of my nostril, usually around the time I get a cold or something. Then it scabs over and hurts really bad everytime I even touch my nose. It usually takes about a month to heal completely. I'm intrigued to hear responses.

Whenever I get a cold this happens too. But now whenever I have a cold I use the tissues with lotion in them and don't wipe roughly, but just go easy when you have to blow or wipe you're nose. And before I go to sleep I use tons of the blistex (in the blue jar) on my nose & lips. This has helped a lot!
I think what you're describing is simply chapping from all the moisture & wiping.

I, too, get the same thing on occasion, and I've wondered if it might not be impetigo.

Protect your nose with "A & D Ointment", over the counter. Runny noses caused by allergies can be very irritating to the skin, plus you almost rub the hide off wiping your nose over and over.
