Hey guys,

Does anyone know at all what is the association between the eyes and the tmj? I've been getting this pain behind my eyes lately, which lasts for about an hour or longer. Its off and on. Ive read its associated with the tmj. I've not been able to find out why a tmj problem can cause eye pain. I'm wondering if I should go in to see an eye doctor, or just pass it off as another tmj symptom. Has anyone else had this pain behind the eye thing?
Thanx!

Hello..I just saw your post. I get pain behind and around my eyes. Usually the right one. Where most of my TMJ symptoms are. I went to the eye dr not long ago, for pain, blurry vision. My eyes are fine. He said I won't need another exam for a long time. I guess this is another mysterious symptom of TMJ. I am thinking it has to do with the muscles around the eye. From what I have read anyway. I clench and grind my teeth at nite, so I am sure in my case, that is what it is. It still never hurts to have anything worrying you checked out. Take Care...Amy

Hello,
It's definitely a symptom of "tmj." I also have it. I have a slight blurring vision. Somedays are ok. Some are not. I read, i believe, in this board that it has to do with muscles because they're all interconnected. GT

Oh my gosh yes!!!!!!!!!!!! ear pain too  I am going to really focus on finding a specialist in TMJ problems. I think (for me) when the pain is at it's worst; like for 3-4 days sometimes there must be some nerve involvement.

The pain is so bad like a burning/tight feeling. Sometimes I have the pain on one side more than the other, but my most recent episode was both sides and was debilitaing to say the least.

I hear there are more and more treatments giving many people relief with tmj problems. :) The pain behind my eyes is horrible; the pain kind of moves around.....squeezing my jaw joints/hitting me in the eyes/burning my ears.

I was told years ago about moist heat; I wish there was something like that where you could just put the moist heat where you want it, and have it stay there so we could try and get through our days when the pain is so intense.

I will post again when I get some news about treatment etc...
I can't live with this type of pain, and feel like I have a normal life because it's not normal to have a vice on you'r jaws/eyes/ears!!!!!!

Take care, Kathy
