i am wondering what to buy dermablend or bare minerals they both are kinda pricey and i want to make sure i get a good makeup only cause i have dark undereye circles and scars on face from acne. I hear bare minerals lasts like 9 months or so cause you only use a little but how long does dermablend last? i see a kit for 17.50 for dermablend and that isn't bad but does that last long cause that isn't an expensive price. or should i buy dermablend's products seperate cause i just want to know how long it actually lasts and what covers best? if anyone knows, thanks :)

You might want to try Physician's Formula Mineral Wear Face Powder. It's not labeled as a foundation, but I use it just like the Bare Minerals. Apply it with a good brush and "buff" it on. I tried it because I had a $2.00 coupon. You can get it at almost any store the sells make up for around $10.00. I have been using Bare Minerals for over a year and I really like it, but I find myself reaching for the Physicians Formula more and more. For one thing, my face gets a little itchy sometimes when I get warm with the Bare Minerals...it doesn't with the Physician's Formula. For me, it seems to cover just as well. I think it only comes in three shades...nutural, beige and bronze. The beige was just right for my skin tone which is a med. beige. Make sure you get the Mineral Wear because they make several different powders that look alike but aren't mineral powder. I think you'll like it!

I bought my brush at Target for around $10.00. It's a Sonia Kasnuk 01 (I'm looking at the handle). Anyway, it was about half the cost of the Bare Minerals burshes. I later got a Bare Mineral brush when I bought a kit from QVC that included a brush, and both work equally well. Just get an nice, thick, natural brush. I don't know about the shade...that's always tricky. The beige isn't real dark, but if you're really fair, you might go for the natural (I think the lighter shade was called natural). As far as coverage, I don't think you get total coverage with either product. I love mineral powder foundation because it feels good and my skin seems to do well when I use it, but don't expect the amazing results you see on the infomercials. No one comes up to you in the store and says "your skin is amazing" and your friends won't think you look 10 years younger. It does give me a more even complection. I have little red veins on my cheeks and some freckles...it doesn't completely erase them, but they are much less noticeable. I would compare the coverage to that of liquid foundation. I don't know how it would cover acne scars...maybe someone else on the boards can give you some info on that. I have heard posters say that their skin improved when using mineral foundation. Like with any product, some love it and some hate it. I just thought the Physician's Formula might be a cheaper way for you to try mineral make up and get your feet wet before buying the more expensive brands. QVC is also a good way to try it because they are wonderful about returning any item for any reason, no question asked. The only thing you might be out is the shipping fee to return it. They will reimburse you your entire purchase price plus the original shipping.

I think if you go to macys and try them out it would be the best at least they can help you find the shaded that matches and you could test it ot before buying it

the dermablend kit that is 17.50 is good on the side that if your not really sure of your color they give you 3 different colors to try and the setting powder, but they are very small sample like jars. but once you find out your color, I went to my local macys and got a sample test then I went on ebay and bought the make up for 10 bucks!

Momo,
Dermablend definitely will last longer and cover better than pure minerals. I am a makeup artist and have worked with dermablend many times. The key is to use it very sparingly. Thin it out with the spatular it comes with. Sometimes I use a blow dryer to warm it up. This makes it spread much better. One little jar lasts a long time. To make it last longer on the skin, apply setting powder afterwards. HTH

Yep, used dermablend when younger and modeled. We also used Ben Nye stuff. Yes, it will cover ANYTHING .. but persoanlly I didnt like how it feels smothering. I prefer mineral make ups even if Im not "flawless". ;)
Our make up woman would set a little bit out on a small palette after getting it out withthe spatula that comes with it and set the palette over her hot tea to warm it!
