View Full Version : Eye crossing outwards...

Hi

I've had a surgery at the age of 2 to correct a lazy eye which pointed inwards at my nose. Recently my eye has gone crooked again, facing the outside towards my ear. But only when I cover my good eye *right* the left eye goes back into focus and it is perfectly straight. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Should I be worried? I am 17 years of age.

I'd say it happens more often than not that strabismus surgery has to be repeated. It's very common for the eye to drift again.

Do you have a pediatric ophthalmologist that you have seen occasionally over the years? If so, make an appointment. If not, get a referral to a PO. Don't go to a regular eye doctor; POs are the experts on strabismus.

Glasses might help if you don't wear them now.

Good luck,
Torre

Thats the thing... Ive lost contact with my old PO.

I go to a general ophthalmologist now. She said its nothing to be worried about.

Also, I am wearing glasses now. When I take them off my eyes seem to be looking straight. It's only when I put them on that the left eye curves.

When I go to a clinic to get a referal. Should I ask for a general ophthalmologist or is there a Dr. specifically that can help me with this problem?

If your old PO is in the area, he should still have your files stashed away. The thing with strabismus is, it's a life-long condition. It would be worth a try calling anyway.

If you're going to get a referral, a PO is better than a general ophth for strabismus. Look up the AAPOS website for a list of the best doctors in your city.
