Hi,
I'm new to this board, I have a 10 year old son Liam who was dx on 21st Jan 2005, with both ALL and blasts of AML. I know that this is extremely rare, and have not found any information on it. Our Oncologist has only treated one other case. He has advised us that Liam was on the cusp of age....more likely over 10 to have AML, (along with children under 2) and ALL more likely in the middle ages, but for some reason he has blasts of both. He has just started reinduction.
Liam has suffered greatly with some of the drugs, with L-Asparaganase, causing 2 hemotomas, he has suffered a slight stroke which has affected his 6th and 7th nerve.
We are struggling now with Dexamethosone (steroid). He received some pain with prednisone in his lower legs, and lost all muscle tone, but nothing compared with the Dexa, he struggles to walk, and we are considering a wheelchair for him. They have decided to halve his Vincristine to see if this may also affect the pain that he is having.
We are taking one day at a time, and he is our hero.....
