Hi there .... I have an IgG deficiency so our symptoms are similar but the treatment is different. An IgM deficiency is usually treated with preventative antibiotics on a rotating basis, which should help reduce the frequency and severity of the infections. IVIG as you found out is not usually very effective for IgM problems. I believe there are some other treatment options, but it will depend on what has caused the IgM deficiency - whether it is 'primary' meaning you were born hard-wired to develop this or 'secondary' caused by another medical problem. You might give the folks at the Immune Deficiency Foundation a call once you have your test results - if you call the phone number on their site a nice human being will send you tons of material about your specific immune deficiency syndrome.
