Hi everyone

My teeth are a mess and so are my gums and i use everything, sonicare, floss, mouthwash, floss etc. I have noticed that there are alot of posts regarding using peroxide but i thought that was something they use in hair bleach which makes me a little apprehensive about using it. Could someone enlighten me a little please?, where do i buy it from and are there different strenths etc. Thanks in advance.

How can you not know what hydrogen peroxide is????? It says right on the bottle that it can be used as a mouth rinse or gargle. It costs like a $1 for a 16 oz. bottle. You can buy it at any drug store, grocery store, or at places like Target, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, etc.

Maz, my dentist recommended brushing with hydrogen peroxide. She told me to dip my toothbrush (I use a Sonicare)in a small amount before brushing. I then rinse with plain water. It's great for cleaning your teeth and gums.

I have never read any studies discussing the benefits of rinsing with hydrogen peroxide except for in cases of acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis. Even in these cases we usually only recommend the patient use it for one week.
There are side effects of rinsing with hydrogen peroxide daily. It can lead to white hairy tongue which basically is when the little hairlike projections on your tongue grow or elongate. Not a very pleasant site.
