View Full Version : Did I dent my tempoary crown?

I was looking at my temporary crown last night and there is a small, round indentation in the top of it. It does not look like a hole. I don't remember eating anything hard, but could I have done this? If so, is this something that I should call my dental office about? (The crown needs to be in another three weeks while I wait for my regular dentist to return from vacation.)

Does the temp. crown look different now then before, or is this the first real look you have had of it? Did the tooth they did the crown on have a filling in the top of it? When they make a temporary crown they take an impression of the tooth before they prep it. It is possible that the indentation is the contour of the filling that was there so the temporary will look like that and not have normal anatomy of a virgin tooth. It would be impossible for you to eat anything hard to cause that indentation. You would fracture/break the temp. first. If you are really worried about it check with your dental office. Even if the dentist is out of town maybe one of the staff could look to make sure it looks ok.

I had a crown done about 6 months ago and after only about 2 days I had put holes in it from clenching my teeth. When I called the dentist he said that it was fine and as long it didn't come off not to worry about it. Nothing odd happened 2 weeks later when he put my permanent crown in.

Good Luck
