I have severe pain in the upper right quardrant area (just below my rib cage). There will be a small bulge (shaped like a roll of sausage)that is very painful it can get larger and more painful as time goes by if it doesn't go down or i'm sedated. To me child birth is a piece of cake compared to this.I've been to 2 familt dr. and 2 seurgons and on my 3rd on for a third opinion and have has CT (2)barium swallow testing (very painful)several blood test and everything turns out to be normal. I have had my gallbladder out so that has been ruled out,so what else could it be. I take Prilosec 2x a day , Zantac once a day somedays I down't hurt ans then there are others when I wished that I would die. Can anyone give me any information to what might be wrong with me or direct me to a DR. that could help???????????????????

Go see an internal specialist. That sounds very serious.

No crazier than anyone else that experiences pain and frustration when not being properly diagnosed/treated. I don't know if this applies to you, but it sounds so similar to what I went through for years. Last year it got so bad they checked for gallbladder probs., and other internal problems that would affect that area. I have thyroid disease and was even told this was a symptom. I finally had an EGD (I think that is what they call it), where they ran the light down my throat and into my stomach. It revealed a small hiatal hernia and gastritis. The hernia is what I would feel. I seemed to experience a lot of pain considering the size of it. I don't know if this will help, but if you have not been checked, it might not be a bad idea to mention to your doctor to check for this. Good luck to you!

sounds like a hernia to me but I don't know why your doctors would not have picked up on this! I would definitley ask about it.

your barium swallow should have shown a hernia...I had one done this week and the radiologist said she could not see a hernia....so, I know with the barium swallow if you had a hernia they would see it.....did they check for a stricture? what about getting your pancreas checked??

Is your pain in the RUQ or LUQ?

Sounds like it could be colon spasms, the sausage shape lump might be your colon. That can be very painful, but there are meds your Dr can give you for it..

I've told the DR. that I thought it was a hernia, and he checked me for a hernia by CT and by examining me with his hand. The first DR that I went to when the problem first arised said that she thought it was a hernia but when she had me go to a suergon he said that he didn't feel a hernia so there was no reason to do surgery. Oh I forgot to tell you that I had a car wreck in May88 and got what they call a seat belt injury causing the first hernia. It took 2yrs.9months and 1day for find the hernia and repair it plus my stomach was split from one side to the other. When I ask them to do a Lap and look and see if there was a hernia he went ahead and done the LAP,but now that DR is gone he was here doing his intern.I am now seeing the DR that assisted him in the first hernia. So why want they listen to me I'm the one that knows my body and I know when something is not right. After the DR did the hernia repair he appoligize to me for not taking me serious. He thought that I was just a wimp. I have a high pain tolerance. He said "You were right you did have a hernia""I'm sorry for not taking you seriously.ALL I WANT IS JUST HELP AND PAIN FREE LIFE. H E L P!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
