My friends DD is 26 months old and only has 5 teeth. Two top front two lower front and 1 molar. Nothing else seems to be coming in. Has anyone seen this? My friend is not really concerend but I am. It seems really strange to me. Are there any issues that can result from this? Her ped. said that the teeth will be healthier becasue they are not exposed to sugars and stuff. I guess thats a positive thing. What's the latest babies can get all their teeth?

She should probably talk to a pediatric dentist. My nephew never got the teeth on either side his top-front teeth. They assumed they would grow in eventually, but never did. The dentist took X-Rays when he was 4 and there were none in the gums (no baby or adult teeth.) Since there are only those 2 missing, the plan is to fit him with a bridge, or use braces to pull the back teeth forward and file off the points on the canine teeth. Either way, they are going to wait until he's a little older. (The funny thing is, his little sister has an extra tooth.)
With only 5 in by 2-years-old, I think I would at least talk to a dentist about it.
By the way: I've always wanted to ask, I know that DD indicates a daughter and DS is a son and DH is a husband, but what is the 1st "D" supposed to mean? I've wondered this for a wile, but never thought to ask.

My son got his first tooth at 1 year old and it took awhile until the others came in. Some children grow there’s in a little slower them some.

D= Darling
DD = Darling Daughter
OR if they are grouchy it could mean Darn .. but it kind of depends on the context :)

I am not sure about this. I have heard that the later the teeth come in the better they are. They are not exposed to the sugars and things so the better of they are. Anyways i work in the dental field and i know how things work. Usually the later the better. I have talked with parents about this. Guess what i have a 14 month old DD and i was one of the worried parents whens she wasn't getting teeth even though i knew that i have until she was 15 months old to get her first tooth. So she is one that is just later in delvopment. At your friends childs age i would be worried too. It's a herditary problem for children to be missing teeth. My husband and his sister are both missing a couple of their adult teeth. So i worry that my DD will be missing some of hers. I have decided that if that is the case then we will have the baby teeth pulled when they are ready and braced place at an age properiate time and move her teeth forward. I would never consider putting in a bridge in a childs mouth. That is not the best option and long time isn't the cheaper option. I would have your friend checking into this. It's better to find out now then later. I would suggest that she see a pedodontist.
