I found this board last night as I was in the throes of a stone. I passed one about seven hours ago, but I'm still in some minor pain (including a bit of that awful abdominal bloating, albeit very slight). This is the fourth stone I've been through, and every time I worry for about a week that the particular episode is not over. As you can imagine, even the little discomfort I'm in now adds to those worries.
How typical is some residual pain from passing a stone? Thanks in advance, and good luck to everyone with this terrible affliction.

Hi Ranger..I know all too well about stones. Read my story "newbie here--but extremely familiar with kidney stones". It's on this page. After I pass a stone, my kidney and ureter will "spasm" from a couple of days to a week or more. I'm 34 yrs. old and have had kidney stones for 25 yrs. I was first diagnosed at age 9. I've had over 250+ stones and over 80 surgeries. Anyway, you can read the details in my initial post, if you want. Feel free to ask me any questions and I hope you feel better soon!

Thanks, Queen. I have entirely no idea how you manage your situation.
Thanks for the information. One of the worst things about kidney stones, I'd imagine, is the fear they leave you in. Every time I feel a twinge I figure I'm in for another 48 hours of misery.
I guess all I can say in reply to your reply is 'hang in there.' You must be one heck of a strong person in mind and body.

Thanks Ranger...all I can do is take one day at a time. Sometimes, it's hour by hour depending on how severe the pain is. I'm sure you are familiar with the "pain scale". 0-10 0..being no pain 10...worst possible pain imaginable
My constant pain is between 4-5 (which is moderately severe pain). I spike to a 10 on average of 5-6 times/daily. The only time I drop below a 4 is if I'm under general anesthesia....totally unconscious. I hope you are feeling better.
And yes, besides the daily pain, I have the anxiety that comes with it. Just knowing that every day I will spike to a 10 several times a day is very frustrating. Thank God I have a good pain management doc. I'm on very potent narcotics on a daily basis. Sometimes, those meds don't even touch the pain. Anyway, sorry for rambling. Have a good night and keep posting on how you are doing, ok??
