I have had sinus issues with major inner ear problems for a year. I did alot of resaerch and discovered that TMD may be the cause since many ENTs and Neurologists have not een able to diagnose the problem.

I researched TMD dentists and found one that I thought was very good. i met with him and his staff and decided to be tested and treated by him. I was told that he was certain that this would help with many of the symptoms that I have. I spent 9 hours with the testing and treatment the first day which included a splint that he made for me the same day. Over the next few weeks the problem seemed to get worse and when asked if this was normal I was told that it was part of the healing process.

$4,000.00 and 6 weeks later I saw him and he said that this splint/treatment was not the solution and maybe I should go back to the NTI that another Dentist (who still thinks the NTI will help) gave me.

I'm in the Chicago area and really was hoping that this may be the answer, but Dentist hopping is not in the financial cards for me.

Any ideas? The people here are great with direction and am looking for answers before we break the bank. LOL

Thanks in advance!

Hi. I can't really comment on why the splint therapy did not work, however it is no surprise to me that you had to pay that amount of money. As a suggestion, there is a doctor in Chicago that i had some email communication with back in 2001, when I had my first bout with TMJD, a very severe bout. I recall he wrote a really good book on the subject, howver i don't remember the name of the book. He was kind enough to take the time to reply personally to my emails. His name is Dr. Richard Goldman, DDS, F.A.G.D.. I know that I am not suppossed to give specific info on this site, so I will just say that I believe he is affiliated with the Head and Neck Diagnostic Center. My understanding is that they see patienst from all over the world. Not sure if this helps you, but I thought I'd pass on the info. I'm sure a little drilling down on the web will help you locate him. Good luck.

Thank you very much. I'll call him and see what he thinks before I throw in the old towel!

Thanks again,

Jack
