Read again last night "1/8 t. triples insulin efficiency" - This keeps being promoted.

Anyone else using cinnamon? Are you taking it regularly? What are your results?

Thanks!

I use just under a teaspoon with oatmeal in the morning. I also eat a quarter of an apple before bed to keep the dawn phenomenon from starting up. That seemed to work better than the cinnamon.

I had control of my numbers before I tried the cinnamon so I think I just use it because I like it.

I normally eat oatmeal in the morning with it and my numbers stay good. Yesterday, I ate cinnamon toast and they were high after. Maybe there is something to this glycemic index thing.

I'm referring to cinnamon in capsules - that way you know how much being taken - or like adding it to oatmeal. Just wondering if anyone is using it and what type of results you're having.

I read that the capsules don't work either. My comment was that other things are working better for me but I continue to use cinnamon too.

If you are going to try it, get a fresh bottle, not the one you've had in your cupboard for awhile. Some people put it in coffee... I add a little to chili, not much else. As you can probably tell, I'm not that excited about cinnamon.

It can be toxic if you try and use too much of it.

The info I've found on the internet - cinnamon oil can be toxic compared to cinnamon with no known side effects.

Who has tried cinnamon daily and it hasn't worked? According to professionals, it does work.

Curious why a lot of people aren't trying it.

would a toxin lower blood sugar? (or all metabolic function)

Many oils have to be used with caution according to numerous websites.

Still wondering if anyone is using 1/2 - t daily and having any results?

Well, I am here to tell you that I started on the capsules, taking one in the morning and one in the afternoon. After about 4 days I could definitely tell a difference! My doctor, however, doesn't want me to take every new idea that comes along. He put me on insulin last month. This was just when I was trying to get used to the cinnamon capsules. I really needed more time to get used to the cinnamon and how to adjust it.

I would take my oral meds with cinnamon in the morning and it helped my glucose. I would take it in the afternoon or evening and my sugars would drop during the night if I took it after say 6:00 or 7:00 p.m. I am on the 3-11 shift so I was trying to see how to get used to it. I don't get up in the morning until sometimes 10 a.m. I would have to get up in the night and drink some milk or something. Then my morning sugars would be 160-200. I have never had my sugar go down at night, so I know the cinnamon works.

I am at a point that I don't know how to work these things out. I've been taking insulin in the morning, still on my oral meds, which is the max that I can take of them, and have not been taking insulin at night, since my sugar has been dropping anyway. I have a hard time sleeping if my sugars are dropping. I am afraid that I won't wake up. Last night, however, I took my first nightly insulin dose. My glucose was 127 when I went to bed (12:30 a.m.) I got up and had a little milk 20 minutes later. I did not take cinnamon yesterday afternoon since I was taking insulin.

The cinnamon was working when I took it with my oral meds. I don't do that well with my diet (eating vegetables), but I don't overeat or eat desserts. It has been hard to keep my glucose down in the afternoon even with cinnamon. I guess that is because my schedule is kinda crazy. Eating breakfast at 10 or 11 a.m. Eating lunch either at 2:00 before I leave for work or about 4:00 p.m. on my first break. My sugars are never at 120 two hours after a meal. Always higher.

I know that the cinnamon works. I didn't have enough of a chance to get used to it. I don't know if it quits working after a while like my oral meds have done. It's possible. I don't see that my oral meds are working at all. My thing is that I want to be healthy and do the natural thing. If cinnamon works, why should I use insulin and oral meds. I don't feel that I should be doing it all. I feel that I should drop the oral meds. My doctor said if I got it under control, I might be able to drop the insulin. Doctors don't want you to try something they are not familiar with - like cinnamon.
I also have not been getting any exercise except walking some days for 45 minutes. I really need to do more and to eat more vegetables.

I would say to be careful with the cinnamon. Take your blood sugar often, write down what you eat etc. I really knew when the cinnamon kicked in. I think that if I had added a cinnamon capsule mid-day (taking 3 total per day), I would have seen a bigger difference in my afternoon glucose numbers, especially when taking oral meds too. I am not saying that cinnamon alone is all you need. You need to eat right and exercise and take your oral meds. It just seemed that perhaps the cinnamon was helping my oral meds to work. (moreso at night than during the afternoon)

I may keep trying to get the right mix using cinnamon, I plan to. It has just had my numbers going from one extreme 400 to the other 75 too often. The extremes are what is dangerous. When my sugar gets down to 130, I feel shaky - like that is too low for me. This is due to being used to my sugars being much higher.

Good Luck.

I take a cinnamon capsule twice a day and will find out next month when I have my blood drawn whether or not it has lowered my sugar. I'm pre-diabetic.

Is that about 1/8 t in the capsule? Do you take other meds for this purpose? Anxiously awaiting to see your results. I believe you're going to see an improvement!
