Diabetic1 11-25-2005, 12:38 AM Can someone explain why there is excessive urination with Diabetes. And,what body parts are effected? dutch-ny 11-25-2005, 06:40 AM I do not see a connection. Go to doctor your are overlooking something! Coravh 11-25-2005, 07:46 AM When your blood sugar is high your body tries to flush out the excess sugar (the kidneys do this work). That is why your are thirsty. Because the kidney is working so hard, it produces lots of urine to get rid of the sugar. That's why excess urination is one of the symptoms of the onset of this disease. Cora trekgirl 11-25-2005, 03:38 PM If you have not gone to the doctor about this problem, go as soon as possible. It is not good for the kindeys to go on this for too long. You can do more damage by letting it go on too long. Please get a doctor soon. You need medical attention. :nono: Diabetic1 11-25-2005, 06:33 PM I currently use one Glucophage 500 mg tablet a day.I work outside, not in the sun tho,and usually use the bathroom twice a day in an 8 hour shift. At home, after I go to bed,I usually go to the bathroom up to 4 times a night. In the morning my sugar is usually 120-160.At bedtime it is 80-100.I go to my doctor every 2 months.I get blood and urine tests every 4 months.I was just asking "why" excessive urination is part of diabetes, and "what" body parts effected. :) wa5ekh 11-26-2005, 11:22 AM I hope people aren't embarrassed to answer questions like this, but my guess is that they are. A personal wild guess(only)...at the answer....extra weight (?) on bladder during sleep....lying down? (I'm type 2, non-medicated, 57 years, male, 3 year diagnosed, originally A1c-11.7 after 1 year A1c~ 5.6, last two years 5.3-5.6, lost 60-80 first year, still 100# over-wt, low exercise level.... all of this make each of us a unique type 2 ...probably....and still a compulsive over-eater - though some new level of control...I think all these things make each of us a specific type 2 diabetic, though many have this in common I have observed in the last 3 years). I have noticed that when I over eat or eat too late I drink a lot of water and this obviously follows. But also when I stick to a specific wt. loss diet which includes water as my only drink, the effect is even more pronounced and wt. loss follows(water weight too I'm sorta sure..). Also I follow any dieting period with a “maintenance " diet....for weight maintenance...i.e. no loss, then the same effect frequent night time urination. My doctor, my endo, and my ureo. seem to agree this is not unusual...(?? I am continually surprised…I keep asking doctors this!!)...but this still puzzles me.....age? ..diabetic?....no idea...nobody dares talk about it! Right? What threw me off(and fed denial) at first (3 years ago) was that many of the physical symptoms of type 2 were so common.....either a lot of people had type2 or there was something wrong with the definitions and description of symptoms. Neuropathy-wt on feet, pricking finger tips. Frequent urination-coffee? drinking water b4 bedtime, extra wt. on bladder during sleep especially. Poor vision-age, flourecent lighting. and so on..other things we don't talk about(denial?). Finally just ignored it and went on with any potential correction to BG control and wt. control. Almost everything seemed to reverse somewhat with wt. loss(for unmedicate me that is). My personal observation and current hope! is that wt./fat level reduction will continue to improve many of these issues if they didn't do any irreversible damage....which I suspect(kidney damage or fat level?). I think fat integrated into tissue/muscle may be hard to eliminate. ( :bouncing: and how?? safely?? The big questions my doctors have...me too!) This is why weight loss seems so important to my type2 condition. I noticed that I loose wt.(daily max. and min.) when my max. 2 hour BGs are below 120 mg/dl. and gain when it goes over. Also I think my resting (5 minutes sitting) goes up with BG level to a maximum of 85 BPM and 140 mg/dl after eating. After 140 up BPMs stay between 85-90 and I get a slight headache and sleepy....bad!!...right? Overate?...probably! Anybody else notice this stuff?? Bet so.. Hope this helps..a little.. |
