Hi. I'm wondering how I should go about weaning my 14 month old from the bottle. I work 3 days a week so she gets bottles then but when I'm home she still breastfeeds. Is it reasonable to get her onto a cup when she's still nursing? I'm thinking I'll get pregnant again here before too long. Should I just do it all now? I hate to take it all away but don't want to run into issues when a new baby comes home. She's like a little junkie for the breast, I think it's gonna be a rough one!!! Thanks!

There are some sippy cups that have a soft top, it kind of feels like a nipple. My 9mth old son will take them (I'm trying to get him to drink more out of them so that I can have him off the bottle by 1yr). They are called Nuby and they are like $1.50 each (at Wal-mart).

Now weaning off the breast may be a little difficult. Children love that closeness that they have while bfing. I never had an issue with weaning. My first son and I decided at 10mths to stop. One day I never offered him the breast and he didn't care. Then with the second one I had to take an 11 day trip and I couldn't take him with me so I had to wean him, it was a pain in the you know what to get him to take a bottle at first...but he got it.

I suggest that you take it slow, and maybe not wean her from bottle and breast at the same time. Get her off the breast first and then worry about getting her off the bottle.

Good Luck...
