I was wondering if anyone has used Temodar?? If so I would like to know how it has worked for you and side effects if any.
My husband was dx last monday with six tumors in his brain, mets from SCLC. I am going to speak with his oncologist about this drug but needed feedback from someone actually taking this med!!

God Bless

Hi Karen,
My Mother took Temodar for brain mets when DX'ed in August of '04. Temodar worked great as she has never had another met to the brain since. I do not remember any side affects with the medication except for slight nausea. The nausea was taken care of with Zantac or Compazine. My Mother also had whole brain radiation to the head also.
Hope this helps!

That is wonderful Lucy! When I read Karen's posting I looked up Temodar. Our doctor has never mentioned it to us at all and my husband has at least 12 plus mets in his brain. Thanks for sharing. So nice to hear someone is doing so well...
Thanks,
Kim

I wanted to let you know that my Mother's Oncologist RXed this differently than most Dr.s do. If I remember correctly, Temodar is to be taken in 5 day intervals with something like 20 or so days off in between. (Typically)
The way my Mother took it was everyday. I believe she took it 2 times per day for quite a while. I know it was for at least 30 days and I believe it was even longer than that. I remember her Dr. feeling strongly about her taking it continously like that.
I hope this helps you to have a bit more info to take to your dr.s
In my prayers,
Lucy
