:) I did something really stupid a few days ago. I had cataract surgery in my right eye in mid August of this year. The surgery didn't go well and I have about 5 stitches in my eye. Doc said stitches will go bye bye in about a year :(......... Now for the stupid thing I did!!!!!!!!!! I rubbed my right eye and it hurts...actually aches.
??????Is it possible I damages or messed up the stitches?????????? :bouncing: :bouncing: :bouncing:

Hi Johna,
Ouch! Funny thing is, I was just on here and wondering where you had been.
But in response to your question, and granted I'm no expert, I would think the stitches have done there job in the past few months. Meaning, the wound has probably healed up now, so I don't think the stitches could be damaged. Are they the disolvable kind, do you know?
Is the eye red or inflammed? Is the vision any different? Just wondering if maybe you scratched it or something of that nature.
If it still feels the same by Monday, I'd give your doctor a call.
Hope the eye feels better soon, Johna.

I had a cornea transplant and the stitches do not dissolve. The eye is not like our skin. It is not loaded with blood and therefore can take a year for the tissue to totally mesh, unlike our skin. It has been over two years and I still have most of my stitches in.

By rubbing your eye you could have loosened one of the stitches. The loose stitch could be causing you pain. Or you could have slightly bruised your eye. Do you have any anti-inflammatory eye drops left? This could help with any inflammation. If your eye is not better by Monday morning call your doctor.

It is not painful to have a stitch removed. Good luck and I hope your eye feels better soon.

Johna, rubbing your eye doesn't seem like a stupid thing to me, but a natural mistake. I thought you were going to say you pulled a stitch out.
Hope everything is ok.
