It may feel like it but you aren't dying. Just falling apart :) . Ok, here are the symptoms you have that I also have or know of other fibro's having.

Headaches, some painful tingling but not too bad, dropping things, some stuttering, my chest pains are more like right uhder the collarbone area, shortness od breath, too cold, too hot, some times light headness, dry mouth and throat which probably causes the thistiness. Blurry vision for no apparent reason some of the time, anxiety, running into things, plus all my aches nd pains and sleep problems.
There is a post, one of the first you'll see, on this board about fibro symptoms. Find and read up on it. That ought to help better than anything any of us could really tell you about whether you have it or not.

I have many of your symptoms also. I also suggest that you read the post on fms symptoms because there are so many. I also have chronic myofascial pain, cmp which intially pinched nerves and caused pain and numbness.

I take xanax for anxiety disorder which is well controlled.

I don't know what GAD is.

Take care and keep the faith,

Donna

Hi CMSaint:

A lot of those symptoms I have experienced. I found the anxiety lessened considerably when I eliminated sugar and began to eat low-carb. A lot of people with fibro also suffer from hypoglycemia, which causes panic. When you eat sugar or carbs to gain energy, in people with hypoglycemia, there will then be a crash. Adrenaline rushes into your symptom to alleviate the crash. The same thing can happen if you wait too long to eat. It is the adrenaline that can cause panic. Adrenaline is the hormone that causes us to either fight or flee when presented with scarey situations. When I started on the diet, it was difficult, but eventually I became more level. The stuttering/panic lessened. I eat every two hours, and do not allow myself to become overly hungry or I run into trouble.

The other two things that helped me a lot were excercising and taking guafenesin. If you do a search of this drug on the internet, you will find some websites that explain what guafenesin does to help you. www.guaidoc.com is one of the websites.

I understand what a difficult time you are having, but if you keep pursuing the truth, the doors will open for you.

Blessings,
Kristin

I have agoraphobia, panic disorder, and an anxiety level that makes it painful to function at times. Also anorexia...and the fibro, and clinical depression.
FAD is Generalized Anxiety Disorder, I think.
I have most of the symptoms you mentioned. I hope you get a clear diagnosis.

Peace and blessings to us all here,

Seaturtle

I have suffered with anxiety for years but the fm has made it much worse. I was at a point where I was afraid to go out of my house, I had to go for help. Is it any wonder with all these things that happen to our bodies with fm that we have anxiety.

I am afraid of the fear.

Hugs, Linda

I am a 31 year old and suffer from Fibro also. It all started after an auto accident last year. I do suffer from Bipolar Disorder, anxiety, and depression. From what Dr tells me all of these have to do with Fibro. My mother has it also and is disabled from it. Hers also started after an accident, but it is not common in younger women, usually hits in late 40's or 50's. Like I said, you have gone through something to off set it, maybe childbirth. I also have a 2 1/2 year old, gosh how hard it is. I also have Chronic Fatigue which comes with it. I feel like an old lady. I have most of the symptoms you put, but a couple I don't know what they are.

Good Luck To All of You!

Hi cmsaint.

In reading your symtoms, no wonder you feel like you are falling apart, you poor thing.

I hope going to a specialist will help you alleviate some of your fears. I know that when I started getting sick it felt like one thing after another was happening to me. Of coure, none of it made sense and it was frightening.

I do suffer from anxiety. FM has made it much worse. For me I belirve that a lot of my anxiety is the pain more than anything else. Is GAD Generalized Anxiety Disorder? I do take medicaotin for my anxiety however I am working on finding different ways to deal with it. I have had FIbro for 11 years and done a lot of research on it. IMO we all react differently to it. I am hoping to find a good balance in dealing with this disease.

As people have pointed out, there is a thread at the top of this boards. it lists the different symtoms.

Let us know what the specalist said and how you doing. We are here to listen and help as much as we can.

Take care of yourself.

Peace and love, Hangin

Sorry, it's not Generalized Anxiety Disorder, it's just General Anxiety Disorder. YOu can look up the symptoms on the net.
I do think these anxiety disorders are related to the fibro, although many without fibro have them. It just stands to reason that if our systems are messed up, they are messed up in many ways. Anxiety is in the neurotransmitters and the body.
As far as I know (and experience for many years), fear of the fear is agoraphobia itself.
It's a difficult disorder. For me, I am never, ever comfortable, both because of the fibro and constant anxiety and often severe depression....but that doesn't mean I can't cope with it and appreciate the beautiful things in life. I guess I've learned to accept all these conditions, give and get all I can, and just go on.
I'm so glad all you folks are here, it's such a comfort, thank you all.,

seaturtle,

WHat a brave preson you are with such a positive attitude. You suffer from disorders that some people would not be able to handle.

You explained agoraphobia in a way that I was able to understand it. Fear of the fear. For many people it is hard to understand something like that, I am sure you have run across those who say "just get over it". I am sure if you could snap your fingers and get over it you would.

Your outlook is powerful and an inspiration to me and others. Being able to fight against depression and anxiety is extremely difficult. I too have had major bouts of depression and still do. My anxiety is always there which as you must know doesn't help with pain of Fibro. It is a hard merry-go-round to be on. I admire your outlook.

Take care. I agree with you. I am grateful that this board is here and there is so much love and understanding to be found here.

Peace and love, Hangin

I'm 23 and was diagnosed with FM when I was 20. I've been experiencing symptoms since I was 15. I didn't go through any physical trauma when it started, though my parents were divorcing and my mother had a terrible seisure and was thereafter diagnosed with Lupus and FM. Maybe emotional trauma can set it off too, I don't know.

My symptoms are almost exactly on par with what you experience. Fortunately I don't experience all of those at once on a daily basis. They sort of cycle randomly.

I just gotta say... Welcome to the club!!

Sorry you got stuck with it.

Hangin,

Thanks so much. I'm going through a rough time right now b/c of change in meds, so am feeling like a space cadet and struggling hard.
I think a positive attitude is sometimes all we have, but we do have that. And I've learned a lot from Bluelakelady about that here.

Peace and blessings to all,

Seaturtle

Oh how I would love to meet all of you and just have one big party!! We may not be as active as most, but we sure could talk!!

I was first diagnosed with GAD in 2000, bad panic attacks...the whole kit and caboodle. Slowly new things appeared and in 2002 I was diagnosed with fibro. I share nearly all of you symptoms. I'm curious what kind of vision problems you experience, as I haven't found many people who can relate. I see a flash/spot of color (usually blue or black) intermittently throughout the day and it makes me crazy! As do all of the other symptoms!

Anyway- it's good that you're going to the specialist. It takes many tests and opinions!! That hard part is that with GAD, you still tend to distrust any/all testing, etc. and think there is something horribly wrong with you. It's not an easy boat to be in!

I don't have any kids yet, I'm 26, but we're hoping to start a family next year and I'm terrified of how I'll feel then. I can barely handle myself now somedays!!

Take Care!
