I have GAD and Fibro (my Dr.s believe). I was given the choice to take Celexa or Lexapro. Is anyone taking these and do they help with the Fibro?

I've taken both. I can't really say 1 is better than the other, the celexa basically quit working on me and my shrink recently changed the lexapro to Cymbalta, she said it has shown to help with fibro pain. I do think I'm feeling less pain then I was before I started taking it. Not a lot less but enough to notice. For the anxiety thing I've taken several different meds. Paxil, celexa, lexapro and it seems like at least 1 other I can't think of right now. I also take Wellbutrin for depression and have for many years. I don't remember for sure which one I was taking when I saw a difference in the anxiety but I think it was Paxil. Of course now with the fibro I still get the anxiety attacks sometimes but nothing like it used to be. Of course I've also grown and done some changing in the past several years too so some things that used to cause my anxiety don't much any more. Heck, I can even speak in public now! Of course that came about because of something I believe deeply in and so that made it easier to do. I'm not saying all the anxiety is gone even when it comes to something important to me, but it's better enough from when I first started taking meds for it that I can see I'm almost like a whole different person. And it sure feels good.
Anyway, the only anti-depressant I've heard of that helps with fibro is Cymbalta.
Hope all this has helped;

I take cymbalta and have since January.. it does indeed help with the fibro pain .. I dont think it does much for the depresson, so I have just added doxepin 100mg at night.. the doxepin was to help me sleep.. but didnt work.. but I did seem to notice a bit of the depression lifting. :angel:
