I had a filling put in yesterday. I received novocaine, but now the right side of my tongue is still slightly numb. Should I be worried that it is not going to go away?

Was it your lower jaw? Sometimes it takes the anesthetic a while to wear off, but if it's the next day, I'd call the dentist and ask what's going on.

It has now been nearly 3 months and I have just started to really get the feeling back in my tongue. For a few days I had a really metallic taste on the side of my tongue that has been numb. But I had done some other reading that indicated that if the shot was given right into the nerve core, that it could take a few months for it to wear off. So my tongue is almost completely back to normal, but not quite 100% yet. I was amazed at how long it took for the feeling to begin to come back. I hope your son gets the feeling back sooner than I did.
