My close friend is suffering from ulcerative colitis, and no medications are currently working for her. I have been researching alternative treatments, and found a clinical trial for non-drug therapy called Adacolumn apheresis. It's a blood filtering process that removes certain white blood cells that cause inflammation and the symptoms of UC. I found it at the link below:

http://www.clinicaltrials.gov/ct/show/NCT00102193?order=6

Has anyone heard of this or participated in the trial? My friend desperately wants to avoid surgery, and any info on this therapy would be greatly appreciated.
