My dad has sclc and is in his third week of radiation. He will be beginning his chemo Thursday. I was wondering if anyone has taken Paraplatin and Taxol, how they worked and espescially the side effects. He is already extremely fatigued and both he and my mom are nervous about how he will feel when the chemo starts. What should we expect? Also, he is getting chemo once a week, but everyone I've read about usually gets it once every 3 weeks. Anyone know why it would be done this way?

My hubby recieved chemo (Cisplatin and VP-16) once a week for nine weeks, and had radiation five days a week for eight weeks.
He did not have any side effects such as loss of hair or nausea/vomitting,but he said all food tasted"yuck" and they did burn his esophogus, but he otherwise fared well!!
Everyone's different!
I continue to pray for your family

God Bless

Thank you, Karen for your reply. It's great to talk to people who understand, espescially since it is difficult to discuss it with my dad. Sometimes I am not even looking for answers, just a listening ear. And I have noticed how positive you are despite everything you are going through with your husband. How is he doing?
I sometimes get all overwhelmed with every new symptom or doctors report, but I am trying to be positive and take it one day at a time- the bible says not to worry about tomorrow, today has enough worries of its own.
I am praying for your family.

Jax
